Need advice! Two speeding offences within two days!

Options
Hi everyone,

I need your urgent advice on this please. I currently have 3 points on my license. And I have received x2 conditional offers of fixed penalties for x3 points and 100 pounds fee for each of the offences. They were two days apart one for a speed of 43 in a 30 road (manned equipment) and the other is 49 in a 40 road (automatic camera device). If I accept the offers it will mean that I'm 3 points away from a disqualification!

Should I take these offences to court? is there a chance I could get any of these penalties lowered down? Is there a chance I could be penalised with more points or higher fee?

Appreciate your help and advice.

Best advice you're going to get on here is SLOW DOWN I'm afraid!

When did you get the first 3? Were they for speeding?

If so, I'd be inclined to accept the fixed penalties. Going to court and wasting time is generally frowned upon.
You can have results or excuses, but not both.

    Risk court? are you mad?

3 points away = a hint you need to slow down and maybe try specsavers?

Unless you've got a good lawyer and they've done something technically wrong you're much better taking the 3 points £100 fine each. At course you'll get at least the same plus a surcharge, and a good lawyer will cost you a lot more than the £200 in fines.

Then you just need to drive like a nun until all your points have dropped off.

Rather than slow down, my advice would be to sell your car and use public transport as it appears you are an inveterate speeder, and I suspect you'll lose your licence anyway before too long.

Accept the FPN. At those speeds, especially the 30MPH one, you're likely to see 4 points being awarded.

If you drive any company vehicles you will need to inform your employers of your points as quite a few have a limit of 6 points. A mate of mine who drove trucks for a living didn't learn and got 3 points in addition to the 6 he had taking him to 9. Instead of taking home £700 a week he's now on the dole and 4 months later still can't find anyone who will employ him til some of the points go.

That's rather optimistic. If you're found guilty at court you'll face
    - an income-related fine (from memory, 75% of net weekly income)

    - a victim surcharge (10% of fine, minimum £30)
    - prosecution costs (guideline £620)
    for each offence.

Accept the punishment and for goodness' sake, slow down. You've had enough warnings now. Perhaps consider some advanced driving lessons? The cost will be small compared to more fines and a possible suspension. Once you have 9 points (maybe more) you'll have to drive sensibly and not just watching your speed, either. Anything like using your phone while driving or a bald tyre could see you lose your licence too, so make sure you and your car as as clean as a whistle.

    Thanks for the advice!

You declined the Speed Awareness course then as you have 3 points.
