Ok I've been making a list up of who I need to buy for and with putting £15 away a month, hopefully, I will have a limited budget of £150 in October, that will enable me to send the chilldren in the family money, buy for my dad and a couple of others but I want to also make some items.
I've decided to make some stockings or little bags up for friends as I've got lots of oddments of fabric and thought I could fill these with a mixture of handmade items and little bits I can pick up cheaply through the year. My mum always said that it's presentation that makes anything so though if I made really fancy gift containers it might distract from the fact that the gifts themselves don't add up to a high cost.
I also need to think about birthdays, which again will have to be a mixture of handmade and little gifts. I will need to make sure I don't duplicate what I make for birthdays in the christmas stockings.
So looking for ideas for making little gifts, The will all be for women from 20's upto 70's. Ideas I've had so far are;
Note books
Packs of home made greeting cards for them to use
Little albums of vintage family photos or family tree.
Cushion cover
Any other suggestions please?

Hi everyone
I was a lurker on the 2010 thread so have decided to join 2011's officially! I've already made a start on next Christmas by buying some Calvin Klein men's spray for half price to put away for DS next Christmas and a Boots No7 skincare set half price for my hairdresser. I usually make a flying start early and then lose the will after a few weeks so this time I intend to keep up the momentum by buying stuff when I see a good deal throughout the year. I've started the Virtual Sealed Pot challenge and that will be "opened" at the beginning of December next year so that will be a great help. I always make DS and DD a goodie bag for Christmas and fill each bag with 10 things under £2 so will be on the lookout for some bargains for those. Here's to a super-organised Christmas 2011!Christmas Savings 2024 £252.38/£600 April NSD:2 April Surveys £0 -
Can I join in this year?
So far I have:
Got 9 Christmas pressies sorted (from Boots sale) works out at £5.27 a present which isn't too bad I think.
Also got some gift tags for 40p a set from Tescos and 20m of wrapping paper for £1. I think I'm doing ok so far.
I have decided that instead of hampers next year that my mum, dad and OH will get stockings. Just for a change. I'm also going to try and pick up my LO's Christmas for under £150.0 -

Do you have a friend who can knit or crochet and swap things you can cook and sew for some of hers. This is what a friend and I do as she likes cooking but cant knit.0 -

So do people think they are a good idea? how have they been for Christmas 2010?
I agree with those who suggest a savings a/c, then you will earn a little interest and be able to spend the money as you please next year and get more bang for your buck. Good luck xo
I have a gift cupboard and buy gifts anytime I see a good deal/glitch, so that I never have to shell out a huge amount unexpectedly! The grabbit board is a godsend.
