Which TV to buy

Need to get a new TV. Want a smart one so can use internet, around 32 inch, reasonable quality. Live in thatched cottage so some restrictions on what we can have like no satellite dish.

Are 4k TVs worth getting? Saw a Samsung one 40 inch 4k can get for 354 from Co-op any good?

Mainly be used by kids who want YouTube, Netflix etc but probably won't care about a great picture. Thanks.

    Presumably you use Freeview so satellite dishs don't come into the equation. Waste of time having 4K at just 32" or 40" but if everything else adds up (price, features) then just get whatever suits.

    Remember smart TVs are only as good as their last software update. Many TVs are never given an upgrade so the services they give access to stop working overtime as the broadcasts amend their software.
    Might be better off getting an Amazon TV stick or Roku streaming box than rely on the TV's built in apps.

    Very little choice at 32" for smart TV's, move up to 40" and you'll have more options. I have a Samsung 4K TV at 40" and it is fine: what matters is the viewing distance, not the screen size alone.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Thanks very much. Where we are putting TV is 107cm and it's a fairly standard size room so 32" or 40" would work but much bigger would be too big.

    Will mainly be the children using and they use Netflix and YouTube mainly rather than normal TV though would like to be able to get the normal channels too. There is an aeriel here but we have only set up one smart TV so far upstairs and aerial doesn't appear to work there - we bought from an old lady so anything is possible for what was there but satellite dishes aren't allowed as Grade II listed.

    Richer Sounds and John Lewis do seem good for guarantees, we've never had issues with TVs going wrong but am seeing some cases of SmartTVs not working after a year so worth looking into guarantees. Current smartTV we have is Samsung, its part of a TV bed, otherwise would try it downstairs and that seems good, old TV we have is from 2006 in our old house still and LG, which was great but probably time for a new one.

    We've gone with a 43 inch 4k smart LG from Richer Sounds with the free 6 year guarantee in end for £349.
