What time does money go in??

Options
Hi folks

I am waiting for some money to be paid into my current account. I know it is due around now, but don't have an exact date. I have nerdishly spent the last few nights waiting up till midnight to check online banking, in the hope it'll show up. It hasn't done tonight, despite the fact I had carefully planned my shopping spree!

Does anyone know if credits always hit at midnight, or 9am, or 5pm, or whatever? It's Barclays, if that makes a difference.

:o

different banks have different times, I used to be with abbey and it was in at midnight, now with halifax goes in about 3 am. I am sure someone who banks with barclays.

the only thing i woudl say is that if a Bacs transfer it will eb in for opeing of business and if not in for 9am would not see it being in the rest of that day. Unless being done by Chaps transfer or one of these new faster transfers.

Hope you get your money soon

Lloyds is done soon after midnight. HSBC a lot later, I usually check HSBC the next morning (or later on in the morning whichever way you see it).

Lloyds sometimes clear a lot earlier. I've had my pay go in in the middle of Sunday morning with them... I wouldn't rely on it, but it's just a headsup.

Thank you for your replies so far.
Unfortunately it's still not there, so I guess I'm doomed to obsessively check my account three times a day until it goes in!

Natwest tend to take online banking down for a couple of hours at 1am and then when it returns I find any money due that day has gone in. So its about 3am really.

With Yorkshire Bank (and presumably Clydesdale Bank as well) I can see my next day's transactions at around 11-11:30pm the day before. :)

I can also see Monday's transactions at 11-11:30pm on Friday night.

Credits due on Monday form part of the available balance immediately, so can be 'spent' over the weekend.

hiya, if it is a CHAPS payment, it can go in at any time of the day, between opening hours and 4.30. Hope you get the money soon, I'm also waiting for a payment, should be in today or I shall not be a happy bunny!!!!! :-)

    Good luck to you, Bashful!

I think it is a BACS payment. In fact I will probably tell myself it definitely is or I will be checking obsessively evey half hour :)

Does anyone have a definitive answer for Barclays?

Just found out the payment is due on the 5th, so guess I will be checking from midnight and crossing fingers and toes until it appears!
