That a garden I really want to see LL, I love the physic garden at Buckfast Abbey run by the benedictine monks.
My herb garden is my favorite space im lucky enough to have access to a specialised herb nursery so if there is anything you can't get hold off, give us a shout you'd be more than welcome to seeds or cuttings.

Another one that is moving in the direction of planting medicinal herbs in my garden - and, on that note = a note of caution. I planted 2 comfrey plants for healthcare for me/food for the garden and then changed my mind.

Ahem....well I thought I'd removed them all. I've now got a noticeable number of comfrey plants there:cool:. Have now learnt that "once you've got comfrey - you've always got comfrey".

I don't think I'm going to be short of comfrey for salves ever somehow - unless/until I do a total "pull the garden apart" job on it - as I did with the house.

Comfrey is a great fertiliser for your other veggies Money. An old trick is to put comfrey cuttings in the trench when planting potatoes. Also, it can be put to steep in a water butt or watering can to make liquid fertiliser. Apparently its long roots bring up beneficial minerals into its greenery from deep underground.

You can also let it dry out and grind it into powder fertilizer ( go easy as its very concentrated) chop and drop as a mulch. Its a gift that keeps on giving but a key player in any permaculture garden.

I recently bought a small Comfrey plant and put in herbaceous border for the benefit of insects, I had not realised that it had a deep rooting system so think that perhaps I should move it into a container, I don't intend using it for plant food.

Just words! we've got an agenda too and that's to be OK whatever this Brexit brings because we've thought what we needed, got it and got ready for the end of March in as many ways as we can. Even if nothing happens to rock a boat the size of a coracle and the leaving is as smooth as silk we'll have thought about our lives and in doing so maybe know ourselves a tiny bit better than we did. We'll also know other people a tiny bit better too won't we and know who to listen to and who to smile about and leave alone.

That's the thing isn't it. We aren't hurting anyone by having some stores in and they will get used so no loss to us. I can't see why people seem to get upset about it, no one is forcing anyone to buy extra.

Humpty I agree that what we do as preppers is our business and we are not pressurizing anyone to follow suit. I believe that this thread is for like minded people. i.e. preppers, and those who would like more info on prepping or share thoughts and ideas on the subject.
Auburnette can I ask do you blanch your chipped potatoes before you freeze ? Mine have never really been successful, do you have any tips ?

The only meds I am concerned about is DH's cancer ones, but I'm not going to start worrying yet, as I'll end up as an emotional wreck / gibbering idiot before March.
I did go to town today to replenish some OTC meds though ( cough medicine, throat sweets etc ), but I do that every year before the winter because we live half way up a mountain, so if we get snow, we get cut off.
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently

Why would we pressurise anyone else to become a prepper? it's something that needs personal conviction from inside not something that is forced on people. Free choice and a free voice to respond to ridicule from those who think we're wrong is what I ask for because just as I believe in preparing for the unforeseen I also believe in standing up for my choices and not being shot down by people who know nothing of me! If folks don't believe in prepping that's their business and good luck to them but no one can tell me what I do is wrong!
