I read that I can change back to un-metered water supply if I change my mind withing 2 years.
I have just read a document produced by Southern Water, which states:
'If you have a meter fitted under our free meter option, you will not able to change back to
unmetered charges at a later date.'
Can they enforce this if I was not made aware of any such restriction?
Thanks in advance

You need to look at what you did to get the meter in the first place.
Did you sign an ordermake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Companies can fit meters compulsorily if you are a new customer. and you have no option to change to RV based charges
If you applied for a meter Ofwat state:

mind
•
If you choose to have a meter installed, you can
switch back to your previous method of charging
within the first 12 months. The company will not
remove the meter.
•
You may not be able to switch back to unmetered
charges if you live in an area of water stress where
the Government has allowed compulsory metering
(see page 19) as part of a plan to maintain secure
water supplies.
I suggest you contact The Consumer Council for Water0 -
Hello,
Thanks for your replies.
I switched just over a year ago due to my kids going off to uni.
But alas we get most of their washing and they visit quite often, so not using as little water as expected.
I never signed anything just made phone calls to arrange it's installation as part of having an external stop-!!!! installed. (Yes we did not have one).
Anyway looks like I've left it too long to go back!!!
Cheers
