Marriage Allowance

Me and Partner got married 27.12.2017. we have quickly applied for the £230 marriage allowance. he earns below 45k and i dont pay tax. How does this £230 get paid... i am confused!? is it a lump sum payment every April? if not then how does this even work out? does he get 11,300 (or whatever it is) off his tax bill? sorry confused!

According to Martin's article https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/marriage-tax-allowance your husband should get an adjustment to his tax code, meaning he will receive the extra in his pay in the remaining pay periods of the current financial year

Ah that sucks (better then nothing yes) but had hoped be a cheque for £230 every year haha

As you don't earn enough to pay tax, how can you even expect a tax rebate? Your husband earns enough to pay,therefore the allowance goes to him.
