Help! ISP demanding outstanding balance from nearly 6 years ago

Options
I've received a letter from Supanet stating that I owe them £98.91 and they "apologise it has taken some time to highlight the balance owed". I cancelled my Supanet a/c in Feb 2013 and have never received a request for any outstanding monies. The letter states that according to section 5 of the Limitation Act 1980, they can bring an action to recover a debt up to 6 years from the date on which it arose. If anyone has experienced this previously, I would be grateful to receive any advice on how best to proceed please.

    Well, you have now.

Why not pay the money you owe and move on? At least you've had an interest-free loan on the amount for five years, which isn't bad.

We've had experience of Supanet aka TimeTalk aka Time Computers etc. and they try this type of scam a lot, for example: demanding payment of a router (£70 thats worth £0 now) that was 6-7 years after leaving TimeTalk, taking money from your credit card (still on their system) and Direct Debit (if you haven't cancelled).

They have also charged a £35 "cease fee" for moving to another ISP which is incorrect when you are out of contract, haven't requested to "stop/cease" your BB & phoneline personnaly (the new ISP do that for you).

I would not pay it personally, unless you actually do owe them?

Ask them for a full itemised bill would be my first step.
