I have had my diary for a month and I think it is helping a lot. I used to browse shopping sites most of the time and now I am completely obsessed with this forum and paying off my debts. So that is a bonus.

Spent £45 on a new tyre today.
It was accounted for in my monthly budget.
I thought about the last time I bought a new tyre. I just went to a chain and paid £84 for a tyre.
This time around, I sought advice first and went to a local place which was recommended.
My life feels more under control these days.

I also came straight home afterwards. The old me would have stopped at the shopping centre near the tyre place on the way back.

That's very MSE! Well done. :money::money::money:

You can tilly tidy your bank account too. Just pop any odd pennies into a saving account, keep it until payday in case you need it, and whack it onto next month's C.c. payment. Some people set themselves a goal for how much they can put across. The major bonus doing this is that you are checking your account loads so less likely to go off budget.

Is your Barclaycard still on 25%? Can you take a look and see if you could get a 0% balance transfer? Might save you a lot of money and help clear things quicker.

    Keep on keeping On!

The Tilly tidying lifted my spirits today and made me feel like I was doing something proactive.

I thought I would spend a couple of months (and a lot of money in interest, sadly) to reduce the debt before looking at 0% balance transfer options. Last year I did my default thing of applying for a consolidation loan and it was declined so I feared my credit rating would impact upon my ability to secure a 0% balance transfer.

It was a non-spend day yesterday. I have to buy some chocolate buttons for work today!

I have got £8 cash towards the £14 I want to pay off my credit card to bring the debt to £2.599.

My husband wants us to go to London on Bank Holiday Monday for a day out. I would need my fare (£20). I have not budgeted for that. He said we used our Tesco Clubcard points to pay for a railcard which we have not used yet so we should make the most of it.

I will need to sell some of my more expensive items to pay for my fare. I would much rather put that £20 towards my debt.

He is quite down at the moment so I feel I should go to London if that is what he wants to do.

    What would you do?

I always like a day indoors pottering and listing things to sell online! That would be my ideal Bank Holiday Monday. Or being outdoors, doing something free.
    Ah. Marriage. Compromise.
