Very well done and what must have been a tough job. We're in the midst of big declutter and its so difficult at times.

My biggest 'kondoing' approach has been 'don't buy storage solutions', and i've gone even further by getting rid of storage so as not to refill them!

    Onwards and upwards!

shanghaijimmy - I did buy some hanging storage for the wardrobe so I didn't have to have everything on hangers, but I also kondoed a display cabinet that didn't fit well. I stupidly wasted money on 2 large plastic boxes (both of which ended up with bits falling off by the time we got them home) from an expensive household shop last year and now I've kondoed I'm getting rid of one of them, plus the lid from the other. Such a waste!

DFOD - I don't mind keeping my photos of flowers from my garden, especially if I grew them from seed, but I take photos of flowers and trees from anywhere! Like I'm ever going to look back and go, "Oh look, there's that flower from Wales 8 years ago, I'll try to research what it's called and buy some". :rotfl:

Today I got a Free £1.50 tub of ice cream from Iceland. Hooray! On the downside, in order to not open and eat said tub, I ate 8 bourbon biscuits and some strawberries.

I'm trying to keep going with the surveys and I'm ready to get another £10 voucher from one of them. Yougov is slow progress! I'm at about £28 now.

A few more days and then I can see if I can overpay any more.

Currently on the "To Buy" list are:

    Washing Machine
    Strimmer for the garden
Small freezer to replace the small fridge so I can start batch cooking
Sat Nav (ours is so old it never knows where we are)
    Netting for the strawberries
2 single mattresses (no rush for these)
    Curtains (no rush for these)

Our lawnmower is also awful and blunt and falling apart but I'm hoping to get my sister's as her service charge pays for a gardener.

If that driving lesson was anything to go by, it's going to take me at least 20 years to be good enough to pass the test. :o I felt too embarrassed to even look the instructor in the eye. I actually lost count of the times I stalled (definitely over 10) and I whacked the wing mirror against something. Mortifying. Trying very hard to focus on the positives, my manouevres are generally fine and I didn't crash the car. Jeez Louise.

So, how to recover from the shame and sadness...I'll do some spreadsheet fun. Spreadsheets are safe and nice. :D

    End of Month summary!

The good news is that my mortgage now stands at £59888.77! :j

The daily interest is now down to £4.33! :T

So my next milestone is to have paid off 15%, which we're very close to.

I can also colour in two more squares on my mortgage house.

Looking at the spreadsheet for June, we did very well on groceries (£95.37) but travel costs for work were an eye watering £332.60, plus £40 for petrol. We spent about £270 on the house and garden this month and £170 on the car. Treats were kept to a minimum at £10 for clothes and £12 for going out.

    Plan for July

    1. Pass my theory test (50/50 at the moment from practice ones)

    2. Find a piece of carpet for the gap in the bedroom

    3. Continue knitting the shawl

    4. Remove the last of the rubbish from the garden

    5. Buy mattresses for bedroom

    6. Buy a strimmer

    7. Hope the washing machine can last another month

    8. Sort out little shed and try to rotate it 90 degrees to make better use of the space

It's nice not having loads of big jobs to do in the house and garden for the first time since we moved in.

    Fantastic progress.

Very envious of you coloring 2 squares. We finished £26.13 short in June and i was gutted!! Also very envious of £4.33 daily interest. Great motivation for us all to keep pressing on!
