I had to google capsule wardrobe! I don't tend to buy anything that's in fashion and don't have a separate summer and winter wardrobe either. I just have a few pairs of jeans/trousers, some tops and a few cardigans and jumpers. They have to match whether they like it or not!Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%

After a very rubbish day at work (colleague not customer-related!), and no sleep last night because of the storm, what better way to cheer myself up than to check my mortgage account.
So, we have a few months payments to go before we reach the end of the first year and we're at £61,256.33 to go. I really really want to get to below £60,000 by August, but now I'm thinking I could maybe get there by July. We have a few moderately large outgoings this month, but we also have over £4000 in the house fund, so technically all of the outgoings can come from there, which means whatever we have leftover this month can be OP'd.
I'm smiling just thinking about it!! Of course there is the pesky interest to take account of. Hmmm...worth a try though isn't it?
Possible obstacles will be:
OH needs new clothes as he somehow manages to wear them out faster than a 6 year old
I might be tempted by garden things
If the weather gets nice, we might be tempted by some days out
I might give up on my healthy eating and buy loads of chocolate
We also need breakdown insurance.
In healthy eating news, I've been sooooooo good. The person causing me the stress even left ruddy chocolate out to tempt me today but I ate my raisins and tried not to look. Just had strawberries for pudding tonight. I keep telling myself that it will be really nice for my belly not to hang over my trousers, and that keeps me motivated. I've also told myself that when I hit 9.5 stone I can have a treat.
In Kondoing news, yesterday evening I tackled the sock drawer! It's amazing!! I threw out some very knackered bras, some holey socks and some baggy knickers, and carefully folded the rest. This will sound sad but this morning I was really excited choosing my socks rather than desperately looking for any two that match. :rotfl:
Spurred on by my sock success, I decided to tackle the "bottom drawer", which is basically where things go when we have nowhere for them. I had already allocated an electricals/computer drawer so some went in there, loads went in the bin, and by the end I had nothing left! An empty drawer! OH wanted to keep an old computer game thing but luckily the batteries had leaked and ruined it.Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%

DFOD - I think I've done a friend request on MFP but I'm a bit clueless...
I'm now down to 9st 7lbs 3/4, which I'm classing at 9st 8lbs, which I'm pretty pleased with. Yesterday was the ultimate in temptation. a) I was at work, b) my boss was treating me like carp, c) my colleague brought LOADS of treats in (millionaire shortbread, brownies, biscuits). I ate none of it!! I think the breakthrough for me was realising that brownies will still exist in the future if I don't eat them now. For some reason I've always had the mentality of eating everything if it's there. I wonder if it comes from being very poor when I was younger and nice food was a rarity.
My trousers are noticeably less tight now and my belly is decreasing! I accidentally bought some size 8 knickers last year...maybe in a few months I could actually fit in them!!
Kondo news
Despite work being horrendous at the moment (due to this one awful human being) I have had a little smile every morning when opening my smalls drawer! :rotfl: It's so nice to pick my socks and pants. The only problem I have found is that now I can see everything, it takes me longer to choose. I used to just pick the first thing.
I made a big furniture decision this week. I have an art deco display cabinet, which was the very first piece of furniture my OH and I bought for our house. It used to fit perfectly in the old house and was much admired, but in this house we've had to shove it in a corner and you can't see any of the things inside. So it's going.Luckily my Mum said she'd like it so I won't miss it too much. The plus side is that you can now sit at the dining table without whacking the cabinet.
I've also moved all of OH's office stuff back up the actual office (he's been using the dining table as it's comfier) and ironed my antique table cloth. Unfortunately it has some stains that I am yet to find a way to get rid of, but they're not obvious.
My failure today was trying to drill holes for the new noticeboard. We have those rock hard bricks and a cheap drill and it isn't even touching it. I'm hoping we can get the woodworker chap to give it a go when he comes next week. Very annoying not to be able to finish the room!
I still need to sort through some stuff that was dumped in the dining room and the whole house is crying out for a hoover.
I keep thinking about my paperwork mountain too and pondering scrapping the homefile and just putting everything in a box file. The home files are both flimsy and all the headers fell out so it takes me ages to find things anyway.
Driving news
Only 3 more driving lessons with my lovely instructor. She needs an operation and can't drive manual any more. I hope my new instructor will be nice. Today I had a mini-epiphany. It's okay to slow down to a snail's pace if I feel that I need to. We've been doing a variety of junctions and trying not to always stop, even when it's clear, but I'm always going a bit too fast to really have time to look.
MSE news
Just as I decide not to spend any money this month to make a massive overpayment, the washing machine has started leaking. Typical!! It's ancient but I had hoped it would last a bit longer. We'll see how it copes next wash (should have done it today but didn't realise it was going to be sunny - damn) and start researching machines.
I've also discovered that apart from one pair of pyjamas, everything else was knackered and has been binned. So I need to buy more PJs, which is another unexpected expense.
OH needs new trousers too. I've also realised that my trusty old black cardigans are starting to look awful and I really need to replace them at some point.Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%

Today was my favourite day so far this year.:)
Got up at 7am and by 10.20am we had layed 60 bricks and shovelled a tonne of gravel to create a new seating area in the garden. Then the woodworker arrived and made us a beautiful new picket fence and gate for just £200 (other quotes were £700!!! ).
During the day we got rid of loads of rubbish at the tip and donated 2 bags of stuff at the Charity Shop. Whilst there I spotted the cashmere sweater that they didn't have in my size at the shop...for £6.99!! It was about £40 new I think. OH also got some much needed jeans for £3.29.
OH made delicious drop scones with jam.
We went to a local market and OH bought (with his own money ) some fancy bread and cheese.
After a lovely healthy dinner we sat in the sunny conservatory admiring the garden, and then I spent an hour knitting.
Probably not everyone's idea of joy but I've been happy all day. We got loads of jobs ticked off the list, OH actually got rid of 2 files of old lecture notes (a miracle) and the sun is shining. And my MiL gave me a hosta!Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%

My paperwork mountain was sorted yesterday in about 5 hours. I now have 2 box files of stuff to keep but I don't need regularly and a ring binder and a box for current stuff.
I came across hundreds of old letters that brought me nothing but sadness so I decided to bin them. I've never been able to get rid of letters, even those that upset me, as I felt like they were important and I might want to look at them when I'm older. But why would I want to upset myself again? Somehow, asking, "does this bring me joy?" really works.
I also put some photos in an album and threw out others.
I made time yesterday to go for a walk and read my book in a local walled garden. I love summer.
Healthy eating is going very well and I'm edging closer to my target weight. I have a very important meeting on Friday and I'm hoping to fit into a size 10 dress (a small 10 at that!) and still be able to breathe. After that I can be a bit less extreme with the calorie counting (eating 1000-1200 on average).
Work meeting on Monday may take away my current Zen-like happiness. :rotfl:Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%

After a lovely Saturday and an almost as lovely Sunday (went for a walk and ate an ice cream on the park, then spent some time with my niece and nephew), Monday has so far been a bit rubbish.
Things that have tested my patience today:
1. On going to my beautifully kondo'd tops to choose what to wear, I discovered that my dearest husband (who is well aware that I had carefully sorted my clothes) had squeezed 2 pairs of dirty trousers ON TOP OF MY TOPS!!!! I was fuming. One of these pairs was worn yesterday and spent a lot of time rolling around on the grass. I know he wouldn't have done it maliciously, which leaves the only other option - that he's a ruddy idiot. To make it worse, he has more cupboard space than me and there was plenty of room for the trousers, although I would argue that the washing bag would have been the best option.
2. A work meeting where some people disagreed with me but wouldn't discuss it - just stared at me like I was an idiot and then said the opposite.
3. A failed shopping trip. I just needed chalk (for the new board), PJs, and a few thank you cards. The shop where I often get cards has stopped selling them, the PJs were all t-shirt material (I may as well just wear a t-shirt) and had stupid slogans and innuendos on them, plus £15 for a flimsy top and shorts is too much. The chalk I sort of got, but I had to get giant chalk as they had no normal.
4. I have somehow managed to gain a pound, despite being under my MFP target every day. I think the target must be too high. Drat.
Here are some positives to balance things out:
1. I walked 7.5 miles today and saved £4.10 in the process.
2. It was nice and sunny this morning.
3. I can't think of any more.Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%
