I've just joined OH up to the National Lottery as you got £10.50 cashback if you spent £10. 50p at the least but hopefully more! :-) I always go for the Thunderball as it's half the price, and I'd hate to win millions. 500K I could cope with.
Today we went for a long walk to the local Country Park and took a picnic, but I did treat us both to an ice lolly, the price of which I am always shocked by. £1.30 each - they were always about 50p when I was younger! It could be worse. We went to the Yorkshire Sculpture park and a Mini Milk was something ridiculous like £2. They always used to be about 10p. We sensibly left!
Not much spending going on apart from groceries, which are costing far more this month. I think partly it's eating more fruit, plus we've cooked for family and had a few people round, and then of course there's the "treats", which we've bought lots of this month.
The peas have all finished now but the courgettes are just starting to come and the squashes are starting to grow. The cabbages are all dying for some unexplained reason. I really don't seem to be cut out for veg growing! Also, the fruit bushes haven't got a single flower between them.Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%

I'm so sorry your Dad is being so awful. It brought tears to my eyes. Your mum sounds like a cracker tho, his loss I guess.

Yeah, it took me a while to get over the fact that 50% of my genes came from him! Thankfully not the selfish ones.

The wait may very well be nearly at an end. Sort of. As with everything in adoption, nothing is sure until the legal work is done, and we're quite a way away from that. Today we make the biggest and scariest decision of our lives though. Choosing a house to buy really does pale in the comparison to deciding whether or not you want to be a mother to a child you have never met! Still not 100% sure that they will want to go ahead with us and terrified that they will say no, which I guess makes our decision pretty easy for us. Feeling somewhat emotional today!Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%

They said yes :T
And we said yes too!
I found out at work, which was hard! Depending on whether the customers came in the morning or the afternoon, I was either horrible or lovely!
Still some hurdles to overcome before everything is final but it does look like I might be a Mum before the year is out and it's crazy.
Money saving has gone out of the window! Today we bought a new desktop computer. My laptop is over 6 years old and OH's work laptop keeps crashing and losing connection. It was causing much consternation (my laptop can't cope with the software he needs) so we thought it was worth the money. £260 I think. Eek. Also bought a duvet set and some little pink storage boxes.Searched the high street for curtains and eventually gave up. All you can get is big thick ones for living rooms.
So yes, a ridiculously expensive month, and I had already sneakily overpaid £550 not realising we'd be making a big investment, so the savings might take a little hit.
I'm off to find out how the bank account is coping, although today's won't be on yet.Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%
