Phew, even with today's spending we'll still be in the black this month.

Very much hoping for a less spendy month next month. We need to pay for the car tax, some curtains, and I think we really need to get that washing machine soon! The sat nav will have to go to the bottom of the queue, as will the little freezer.

Maybe I should look for some washing machine competitions...

Of course once we win on the lottery next week we'll be fine. We're bound to really with 2 lines.

Thank you so much for the lovely comments!

It's dawning on me now that we'll only have one wage and a girl who LOVES CLOTHES :eek::eek:

OH thinks it's a bit early to be telling everyone, but I can't help it. The way I see it, if it all goes wrong now, I'll be telling everyone anyway because I'll be devastated. At least there will be people who know who can support us. Nothing is likely to go wrong though - must stay positive! :D

I'm typing this on the new computer, which is taking some getting used to. I was so relieved that we didn't sell the Microsoft Office!! Needed it for this so although we didn't make any actual money from it, we saved ourselves a big chunk as we haven't had to pay for a new version. I've downloaded skype but don't know anyone else who uses it other than my grandparents. :rotfl:

Today's driving lesson was shambolic. Loads of traffic so we barely moved for the first 20 minutes and then I got all flappy when I couldn't find the gear and never managed to calm down. At least I didn't stall (nearly did at one point but brought it back). I apologised for how awful I drove and she said it wasn't that bad! Maybe it was just in my head. I haven't driven at all in OH's car for ages and I really should to get the worth out of the insurance, but my mind really isn't on driving. I think I possibly need to set myself a challenge to pass by a certain date. It definitely won't be before DD (not really allowed to say that yet but you know what I mean!) comes home but maybe before Christmas if I get my act together.

With so much going on in my head at the moment, looking at the money is quite soothing. :D

The most shocking thing on the speadsheet this month was...

    Groceries - £171.40 !!!!!!!
Our normal spend is about £120 and even over Christmas we were under £170! No idea why we spent so much. I think eating to deal with stress may come into it!

Lots of big spends this month - a desktop computer, a camcorder, 2 mattresses, bedding, and the annual home insurance.

Despite all of that, we still managed a £550 overpayment this month and added about £300 to the savings. I'm really mindful now of the savings pot as hopefully I'll be on adoption leave next year and then probably unemployed. If we can continue to overpay £100 a month, we'll make it before we're 40. My friend was talking about all of her outgoings for her children and I wonder if I may have under-budgeted! I guess we'll see.

Big expenses for this month will be:
    Car Tax
Possibly Car insurance - need to check the date
    Washing machine
    Curtains
A few extras for the bedroom

My learner driver insurance runs out in a few days but I don't know what to do about it. We've been so busy that I've barely done any driving outside of lessons, and it's a lot of money to not use it. I might let it lapse for a bit and maybe see if we can both book a few days off, get a week's insurance and do loads of driving.

I still have enough in my personal account to cover this month's driving lessons.

Depending on what happens with the adoption and when, we might treat ourselves to a night away. Nothing is certain at the moment though. I'm not good with ad hoc! I like to plan!

This was the first month since we moved house that I haven't spent a penny on house maintenance/refurbishment!
