Turkey is as safe as most countries I would say (with obvious exceptions of far eastern border areas)
But its very definitely not Europe (even if technically a small area of it is geographically)

I haven't been for some years but I really loved the Dalyan area- lots to do and friendly locals (oh, and not too far from the airport at Dalaman- 1/2 hour transfer?)
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything! --
    Many thanks

Arrived at Antalya Airport this afternoon on time @ 1530. Cleared Immig in no time.

Out into the coach park, clear blue skies, and lovely and warm.

By 1600 we were on our way to Side.

1700, we arrived, and are staying in a fabulous 5* AI called Sentido Perissia.

Security concerns.... I'm more worried about my waistline after 14 nights here.:)

We absolutely love Turkey and have no qualms about security. We will be going again this year, i worry more about being in London than i do Turkey.

So have you decided to go to Turkey?
And do you now understand about needing a visa?

I go twice a year to Bodrum, lovely place, no issues, thinking about buying there. 5.3TL to the £ currently making it great value again.

Agree with Jim about Bodrum, and in particular the number of wonderful small resorts within easy Dolmus* range of the Dolmus station in Bodrum.

    *shared mini-bus, cheap as chips.

Traveling around Turkey is so easy. Dolmus into town ,local bus to a bigger terminal and from there , wherever you want to go in lovely air conditioned coaches with free cold drinks and wipes dishes out

    Extremely cheap and easy
