No idea on the mpkWh (is that a thing? Perhaps m/kWh - still looks wrong), but, having watched a few blogs of the electric news channels and their views/opinions, the important takeaway seems to be that Ford is serious, it's absolutely not a compliance car ...... hopefully!

Good news I suspect, but don't all shout at me if I've been fooled again (nobody mention the Chevy Bolt, please.)

  • Also interesting is the news out of Volkswagen that the new ID3 is 40% cheaper to build than the Egolf: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-volkswagen-electric/vw-ceo-says-new-id-3-car-40-cheaper-to-build-than-electric-golf-idUSKBN1XS1BN

Let's hope that is reflected in customer pricing!

Fanboi warning - but I saw this last night and couldn't stop chuckling at just how much different the BEV World is v's ICE.

Following an over the air update, the power output of the TM3 has been increased resulting in the mid-range model's 0-60mph dropping from 5.6s to 4.9s and the performance TM3 drops from 3.2s to 2.8s.

You buy a car, and it gets better ............ mind blowing, but I love it.

Thank you. That sounds just the ticket for my wife to replace her Picanto. She likes driving the Leaf but not parking it. The price seems much more reasonable than the old VW eUp.

How on earth can they know that?
Like a lot of "news" on BEVs, it's just an estimate.

That's not bad at all considering the batteries are around £6k.
    Decent range too.

But it's a very low estimate, as above. So what did they base it on? As I said, they'd be better not 'estimating' these things, and we just won't know the range (that we can compare against other cars) until it's been through the official testing. Worthless otherwise and just gets people whooped up.

A short vid on the Arcimoto (think Twizzy on three wheels). Loads of potential for inner city commuting.

Have a look at the US NEV sector, had a go in the GEM which is owned by polaris which make loads of different sort of small vehicles in the US (quads, atvs etc). Unfairly compared to a golf cart but used widely in various commercial applications and adopted by some communities as the local get around transport option.

One I would have loved to have a go in but didnt get the chance was the polaris slingshot, ice powered but could well be an ev platform. Wouldnt really suit our climate (even with the grand tourer version).

Known prices (after govt grant) of the upcoming small electric mini-cars from the VW group.

    Citigo E iV (SE) - £16,955
    Seat Mii Electric - £19,300
    Citigo E iV (SE-L) - £19,315
    VW e-Up - £20,150

Tempting? Or frustrating that these electric models are £8k to £10k more expensive than the ICE versions?

That's a hell of a lot of miles needed each year to make up the price difference?
