I am new to NATWEST and RBS both, so if I switch my other 2 accounts, can I get the bonus from both? In T&C they say that you can only benefit from this bonus offer once but doesn't say if it's across NATWEST and RBS..

You'll need to closely examine the T&Cs for both NatWest and RBS's offers. Typically these banks exclude you from each others offers (ie. you can't take advantage of a NatWest offer you've had a RBS offer, and vice versa). Even if you're new to both banks, unless you get them to pay you at exactly the same time, then as soon as you receive payment from one bank then this would automatically exclude you from being eligible for payment from the other bank.

What you are saying makes sense, but in the terms and conditions it says "You won’t be eligible for this offer if you’ve already taken advantage of a cash offer from NatWest, The Royal Bank of Scotland plc (‘RBS’) and/or Ulster Bank Limited (‘Ulster’) between October 2017 and July 2019", so technically, since both accounts are getting the cash after July 2019, it shouldn't exclude him. It does also say that you can only benefit from this offer once, but each bank is technically a separate offer.

Another thing to consider is how efficient are their computer systems, and will they pic up on it. Probably, but who knows?

I think I see your reasoning. You are right in saying that each is a separate offer and technically you will be receiving both switch incentives after July 2019, which should keep you within the terms of both offers. Only problem might be if they class this as a single offer across both banks, in which case you'd fall foul of the last term. I'd be curious to see how well this works though.

Also not sure how smart their computer systems are, but I'd imagine they wouldn't put those terms in the offer if they didn't have a flag accounts who are eligible for the offer or not?
  • I just had very strange conversation with both NatWest and RBS. First called NatWest, I was put on hold briefly and he confidently confirmed that I will be able to get the switch offer from both as I am switching after July 2019 and new to both the banks. Then called up RBS to confirm this, after putting me on hold for long I was told that I can only benefit from one offer. I told him that NatWest confirmed that I will be able to get the offer from both and the guy from RBS said no I won't and he will raise this with NatWest.
Not sure if I should still switch to both and see if I can get the switching bonus.

    'Oct 2017 to July 2019'

Guess this means I am eligible since I just applied for an RBS account a few days ago (September).

Any one have a reason I wouldn't be eligible? Fair use etc

You won't be eligible if you've had an incentive between Oct 2017 and July 2019.. irrespective of when you opened your latest account.

Why did you phone RBS if Natwest had already told you what you wanted to hear?
Apparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen

So what are you going to do? I switched to RBS in July 2019 so I'm wondering if I could take a punt and switch another account to Natwest. the T&Cs for Natwest say you can't, but it may be worth a try, nothing to lose.
  • Exactly nothing to lose..i am going to switch over 2 of my existing current account which I don't use to NatWest and RBS on the same day and going to select the switch date as same if possible, they have different bonus pay out dates but not sure if they pay out early..going to try this and hoping to get £150 from both...

I'd be interested to hear about how this goes - please keep us updated :)
