NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland and Ulster Bank will cancel thousands of customers' PPI policies from midnight on 29 December - if you need a policy, you'll have to find another provider...

The irony of posting this on a forum devoted to PPI refunds is not lost on me.

Clearly, these Banks have made a business decision to no longer offer a very toxic product which many people mistakenly believe it was somehow wrong to have in the first place.

There is no doubt these policies were expensive and limited in scope. I therefore truly doubt there will be "thousands" who still want credit card and loan PPI.

Few providers still offer ppi products because of the complaint risk. So those with policies being cancelled may not be able to get alternate cover.

How long before there are claims for compo for having your PPI cancelled I wonder?
