According to my final bills and subsequent payments received from Iresa I calculate I am actually still owed £270 by Iresa - I've only just realised responsibility for repaying this now lies with Octopus energy so have raised a claim with them.
Unfortunately based on this thread I'm not optimistic I'll get a sensible response from Deloitte or CDS, but we'll see.
EDIT: Actually, I've just taken a look at my online account with Iresa following the suggestion above and it turns out they have charged me *twice* for the electricity used between Nov 17 and Feb 18. Unbelievable,
Yes, I agree - it's unbelievable that you didn't check your bills, statements and payments at the time to ensure that your account was closed properly.
Even more unbelivable is the fact that you've just got round to checking after only 12 months and discovered that they owe you the the best part of £300.
That's quite a lot of money. I'm not sure how many people coull afford to chuck that amount away.
I'd doubt that Octopus would be responsible for an account that was closed that long ago, you might have to try and claim it back from the administrators.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Hi folks. I left Iresa before they went bust... Months later a bill for over £1300 arrived. Odd multiple daily charges had been added repeatedly. Octopus were really helpful. They found my old iresa account, checked my figures and theirs which matched and sorted a refund over a weekend. They sent the info to CDS and Deloitte who 5 weeks later have failed to respond to my emails or calls in any meaningful way or update my account or the info they hold on me. I am currently using GDPR to ask them to rectify and confirm they have done so. No response as yet. They have a month and then its a complaint to the Information Commissioner Office. I'll keep you posted.0

Finally Deloitte have accepted the figures from Octopus and have said they will instruct CDS that the matter is closed.0

Not sure if they will even be interested. I switched to Bulb well before they went bust. I never had a final bill from Iresa - I don't even know if they owe me or vice versa. Heard nothing from Octopus. Complained to Octopus - no response. Complained to Ofgem who advised me it was outside their jurisdiction and I needed to to contact the administrators - Deloittes. Contacted them by website and phone - no response other than an automatically generated (no reply) email saying "Someone will respond to you shortly if a reply is required.". It is & they haven't.
Can't think of anything else to do other than contact my MP - although I guess he has other things on his mind.0 -
Hi folks,
I received a postal bill from SSE, following Brilliant Energy's demise, which I paid in full within a couple of days of receipt.
I've since received an [undated] letter demanding payment "within 7 days of the date of this letter" as well as numerous calls and texts from CDS Global.
I signed up to Look After My Bills ages ago; they had initially switched me over to Brilliant Energy. I've contacted them twice to try and clarify the situation (ie. find out who I owe!) but have had no response. Can anyone else shed some light on this? Anybody else in the same boat??
Thanks,
P0 -
The only way to properly know what you used, what you should have paid, what you actually paid and whether they owe you or you owe them is to read your meters yourself, keep your own records, check all your bills/statements and save copies of them - ideally for six years.
I if you didn't then you'll find it nigh on impossible to challenge.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
