    Yes everything matches up.

My sister has/had a Natwest account - Same surname. She has debt issues that she is paying off for over a year. She is in Australia. That's the only link here I can see.

No idea though how my Mum Dad's name has got involved.

This is why you send the provit letter.

It should answer all your questions.

I agree, and maybe also send a Subject Access Request to NatWest and if that comes back "No Data Held" then your parents could have the evidence they need to clear their name.

It can be hard to prove a negative :)

How do you do a Subject Access Request?

What do you mean prove a negative?

    (A) How do you do a Subject Access Request?

    (B) What do you mean prove a negative?

    (A) This is the national debt line version, not updated to represent GDPR but will suffice :

    https://www.nationaldebtline.org/EW/sampleletters/Pages/Personal-information-under-the-Data-Protection-Act-%28sole-name%29.aspx

There is no longer a fee to pay.

    (B) If they have no evidence of the debt they cannot continue to chase it.

Thanks guys, can you tell me exactly what I should do here please, sorry this is all very weird and stressful for me

So first, send in the letter to Westcot saying Prove it

Secondly, Subject Access Request to Natwest, via post to? Or can I hand that into their branch?

    That is it right?

From the link what specific information should I be asking for from Natwest?

From the national debt line link template

Not Natwest, send to wescot, they are now dealing with the account, the provit letter is self explanatory, just fill in your relevant details, and send by post.

Same goes for the SAR letter, any and all information held on there systems, but send that by letter, to Natwest.

turn off computer, sit down, put on kettle..........!!

Hey guys, so to follow up on this.

The letter I got with the Natwest logo on it I handed it in to their branch and they said they would send it to their Card Services team. I never heard back from them.

Now since I posted just this morning a new letter has arrived with the WESCOT branded letter and their official letter asking for the money to be paid.

In the letter they have a reference number for Westcot and also a reference number from Natwest making it look very official.

I have never had a credit card in life, and never any account with Natwest.

Now I am sending off the letter as written in this thread where it asks for full proof.

What could this be? It's very annoying and also confusing.
