If I could find who took my parents details and made a fake online account....I wish seriously

Have you spoken to your sister?

In this thread you say she has/had debt. She has/had a natwest account. She isnt in the country and that now someone has set up a false account whilst knowing both your parents details.

Is it 2 account numbers? If so 2 letters etc to prove it.

I'm not saying she did this at all. But have you asked if she knows anythimg about it?
  • Yes I checked with my sister and she checked from her side but she says there's nothing in connection

    -

Yes it is 2 letters and apparently 2 different reference numbers and 2 different accounts. 1 under Dad's name and 1 under Mum's name.
  • Shall I send the template letter to Westcot still?

And should I still send SAR to Natwest?

send to wescot, they are now dealing with the account, the provit letter is self explanatory, just fill in your relevant details, and send by post.

Same goes for the SAR letter, any and all information held on there systems, but send that by letter, to Natwest.

turn off computer, sit down, put on kettle..........!!

That was the advice 2 weeks ago - can't see that anything has changed

Beginning to think this is just a ploy to see how long this thread can be kept going ...

  • Dude why would it be a ploy !!!!!!, what kind of mindset do you have? I'm just trying to figure out what to do in this case as I'm worried and trying to sort out a situation where it seems Natwest aren't bothered and have a damn debt collector writing to our home address for an absurd amount

As i said, you can ignore the DCA.

Advice as in post #35# still stands.

I understand its an annoying situation, but you have been given advice on how to deal with both companies.

Good luck with it, let us know the outcome.

  • What's the DCA?

    -

Yes what i have done now is printed off the template letter and also done an extra letter to say Natwest has identified this as identity theft and that Westcot should deal with this matter directly with Natwest.

    -

The SAR letter, I don't see the point or want to do that because i feel like i'm asking them for information about me/my parents that we never even opened an account in the first place. So I'm asking for bank details and spending whatever which is not even my own.

Wescot, the DCA, sent you a letter making certain allegations. So you just them a prove-it. No additional letters.

    As for Nat West...

I agree, and maybe also send a Subject Access Request to NatWest and if that comes back "No Data Held" then your parents could have the evidence they need to clear their name.

I can't say it any clearer than that.
  • But Natwest do have data, it's someone else has made it under their name. We even have on our lettes a natwest refernece number.

i spoke to them and they have flagged it and said it's being investigated from their fraud team and they told me i should ignore letters from westcot
