The thing that surprises me about these checks is that it's all about income, nothing about wealth, which surely be more indicative of credit worthiness.

After my account was approved, I received a call from a third party company offering to review life insurance.
Coincidence or not, I do not know!

    Did anyone get such calls?

But today I joined the MSE Credit Club to get my Experian score.

It is 902/999. Is that bad? There were some mild comments in the summary bit.

Your credit score is meaningless and is only there to sell a product to you. Companies do not see your fabricated credit score and certainly dont use it.

What matters is whats on the report.

I will give you an example; I applied for a M&S account, I was declined. I got my letter which suggested I obtain a copy of my credit file - it was made to sound like there was fraud happening and late payments etc. There was none of that. I wont go into specifics, but I know what the problem is, but they cant tell me, otherwise it means you may be able to bypass their checks.

Personally I dont rate Barclays - customer service is terrible for a start, but for the rewards it could have been worth it.

After all the hassle and waste of time just to open an account, I will be using Barclays only for the £11 reward.

Will setup up SOs to pay in and out in six days.
There are better banks around for everything else.
