The top of your article has a faked photograph of thick dark fumes coming out of an exhaust.

That's all right. When we can't afford it any more we won't go to work and the country will grind to a halt. Then see prices fall!0

yes, because even a quid increase on a gallon that you can do 40 - 70 miles on is unaffordable.
you're talking 1 - 2p extra per mile even if it were to increase by 25 a litre0 -
I paid 134.9p per litre for BP ultimate super unleaded at the weekend. Definitely has went up in price.

I paid £142.9 for premium diesel at a Tesco (Esso)forecourt in Leeds last Friday. I'd just done a long run and needed a top up to get me home so just put a tenner in.

Is basic English no longer a requirement for journalism ?Never associate with idiots on their own level, because, being an intelligent man, you'll try to deal with them on their level - and on their level they'll beat you every time.
Being hated by idiots is the price you pay for not being one of them.

It doesn't appear to be a requirement for posters either.

We are all at risk of making basic language errors. I've probably posted worse myself.0 -
It is not the biggest rise - it is the second biggest rise as explained in the article
" This is the second biggest rise since the start of 2000 – when the RAC started recording the data – but still some way behind the 8.43p increase seen in May 2008 (120.83p to 129.26p)"0 -

Older cars will be closer to 40mpg .... £1/gallon if you're driving 20 miles each way to and from work is £1/day extra. It all adds up, especially if you took a job, say, 40 miles from home as you lost the last one and this was the job you got soonest and you have bills to pay and this job pays 75% what the last one did - that's an extra £2/day, or £45/month.0 -
 I go to America in about four weeks and will be paying roughly the same for a gallon of fuel as I pay for a litre over here and they complain about the price.£2021 in 2021 no.17 £1,093.20/£20210
