Basically, if people cannot be bothered to help themselves to save money, then as far as I am concerned, they can keep paying over the odds. It isn't rocket science to switch utilities or banks, it's more often than not about whether folk can be bothered. My own BT contract is up at the end of the month, am I staying with BT? of course not, I'm switching to Plusnet because they're offering a cheaper contract over 12 months instead of 18 months with BT if I remain 'loyal'. I won't even engage in a 'haggling' conversation with utility companies anymore. If they were that bothered about keeping customers, they'd just offer existing customers the same deal as a new customer would get. BT think they're doing me a favour by offering me a deal whereby I'd continue to pay the same monthly charge as I currently pay, but with the 'sting' of a longer contract. I will no longer entertain 18 or 24 month contracts that have punitive charges if I want to leave early.0
