Banking outages / glitches

Can anyone remember please a major tech meltdown in the last two or three years that began on a Saturday morning. The bank / building soc in question tried to claim it was all sorted on the Sunday, only for it to rumble on well into the week?

Natwest, RBS were long running issues.

I find it amazing that despite such high profile issues previously that some people still only rely on a single bank/debit card for all their transactions. It just makes sense to have more than one card/account just in case one bank has a problem

According to Wikipedia that began on 19 June 2012, which was a Tuesday. I suspect the OP is referring to something more recent, but without more info to pinpoint the specific incident it could be pretty much any bank.

Nationwide had their share of unplanned outages last year, as reported on threads including:

but to be honest it's a needle in a haystack search!

The sheer volume of outages reported at sites like http://downdetector.co.uk/ and http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/ is pretty overwhelming....
