I can't think that anyone on here would have details of exactly why they're down but they've published the following update at http://www.nationwide.co.uk/support/ways-to-bank/service-availability:
Some of our services are currently unavailable

    Internet Banking and Banking app

    Sorry, the following services!are unavailable:
    Internet Banking
    Banking app

You can continue to use the following banking services as normal:
Use your cards to pay for goods
    Withdraw cash from ATMs
    Receive payments

We’re sorry for any problems this may cause you; we're working to return things back to normal as quickly as we can.!Thank you for your patience.

I think that it must be bad - I can not remember a time when both on-line and app banking have gone down together !!

I tried to log in earlier with the debit card reader, but it kept telling me my details were incorrect (they were not). I logged in using memorable data but all my accounts were missing (I have three - two current and one savings). Wonder now if this was related to the current issue...

I was halfway through changing from flexplus to flexdirect. After 30 mins answering inane questions the operator had to give up as the system would not let her do it. She even asked me if I had been accepted for a uni course recently. She had my DOB in front of her - 1942!!
Can't complete the transfer as she's off till next Weds.

The earlier status message said that would work and they've now updated it giving you the option of being notified when all is well again:
Due to an intermittent performance issue affecting our Internet Bank and Banking App, some customers have experienced a slower and delayed service.

We want to reassure our customers this issue relates to a technical fault rather than a malicious incident.

As a result, we're currently undertaking maintenance to restore normal service as soon as possible.

Customers will be unable to access Internet Banking and the Banking App while this work is being undertaken. All other services remain unaffected.

Customer service remains our top priority. We thank customers for their patience and apologise for any problems caused.

We’ve set up a free text messaging service to notify you once normal service has resumed. Simply register your details by clicking on the ‘Notify Me’ button below and we’ll let you know once service is restored.

Tried that, their online complaint service is down as well. Is that enough reason for a second complaint?
