Wrong initials on income protection policy

I took out employment protection through my financial advisor and want to make a claim, but financial advisor missed out my first initial on the policy. Thus, missing the first initial of my first name, but bank account direct debits were coming out of are the correct initials, but insurer will not pay out, because of this mistake. This is not a fraudulent claim and is very much correct of all other information, bar missing first name initial.

I have never heard of such a daft reason to decline a claim.

You should complain to the insurer and then the FOS if they reject. You should also contact the adviser as they should be able to supply the insurer with the statement of demands and needs and confirmation of the factfind that goes with it that shows your details.
