    She would though if receiving carers allowance.

    What should i put in for Carers allowance for income?

    would the £2500 disregard negate most of her previous earnings? Looks so simple,but it is totally confusing me!! lol

    Living together,my income from last year £28000 partners £4600.
    Next years income me £28000 partner £0
    3 children.1 child receives lower rate mobilty and middle rate care

    You're still saying zero yet about three times you've been asked for hers carers income...

    i haven't claimed for it yet,but if she did it would be approx £3260 per year i believe

    We know you aren't claiming it yet but if you want to calculate how much you at based on claiming carers then you need to include it in the calculation.

    If she claims carers allowance then the household income change by more than £2,500 so tax credits would remain based on last year's income. Tax credits would be approx £117 per week.

    If she didn't claim carers allowance tax credits would be approx £133 per week.

    So based on that she is better off claiming carers allowance.

    Carer's allowance and State Retirement Pension are, what are called overlapping benefits and cannot be paid together.

    Both are earnings replacement benefits and you cannot claim two of these.

    However, if the person is eligible for any means tested benefits, (for example, pension credit) then a carer's premium (about £30 ish a week) can be added on to that benefit.
