Cheapest 200 wrapped chocolates or sweets?

I live in an area where over 200 little children descend over a two hour period for Halloween. It is a really festive time, and the children and parents all have fun dressing up.

We moved in last year, it was only round the corner from where we were before, but much more community spirited, the old house only got one or two visitors. We were overwhelmed and made three trips to Tesco express for more sweets last year.

This year I want to be prepared.

So my question is, do you know where I can get 200 + fun sized sweets at the cheapest price please.

I don't like the idea of having a bowl of sweets for them to delve their hands in. I think the probability of one child having germs on their hands and then spreading it around a bowl of sweets is too high and I would like all my sweets to have a wrapper on.

Any ideas?

Thanks

  • I hate Halloween and will not be answering the door but...Tesco are doing the big tubs of celebrations for 4 pounds and are all individually wrapped.

I haven't counted how many are in there but a fair few I would say.

200 .... sounds like the local kids are organised; there's only 20 of them but they mix n match outfits and go round 10x.

We have the same round here, very community spirited and there's 6 streets which decorate the houses and all sorts, like projecting images onto the houses, if anyone has ever seen a halloween episode of Roseanne then it's like this only over 6 streets:)

Good fun but expensive for those who choose to display the flyer in their window.

Ideas, try the local markets, sweet stalls round here sell cheap pick and mix.

What about lollies instead of chocs/sweets

Do it the traditional Scottish way and make a huge Clootie Dumpling and give them a slice.

    Flyer?

My poor great uncle used to live in Sussex and said they were scared of guisers which I found really sad :(

We are moving on Friday to an area with lots more people  so even though we aren't expecting too many I'll grab a Haribo bucket of individual packets of sweets (£4 at Tesco I think) and a box of mini choc bars in case we have any Muslim/Hindu/Jewish kids round :)

But of course they have to do their "turn" to get their sweeties :rotfl:
  • Guisers? I've never heard of them.

I live in a small town in West Sussex, mostly OAP's live here so don't tend to get many kids on halloween - infact last year was the first time we had any in the 4 years we've lived here. I hadn't prepared myself by buying sweets. Luckily there were only 4 of them and I'd bought some brownies from the bakery section of sainsburys (for myself) the day before so I gave them one each of those.

200 is alot of kids, if you're happy to give out that much I'd just buy a tub or 2 of Roses/celebrations - as already mentioned they're only £4-5 each and have loads of sweets in.

I wont buy Harible or Moaom - I am too well aware of their effect on some kids. loaded with horrible chemicals and colourings etc! their ingredients list looks like the recipe for a nuclear bomb - and thats how some kids react!!!
I buy multibags of Dreemy etc from Aldi, I also buy a couple of punnets of grapes. put 5 or 6 grapes into little bags. add apples bananas, and some tangerines to the 'goody tray - and watch the fruit disappear first!

I don't agree with children begging and taking sweets from strangers but Lidl have some good sweet offers. I bought some last week for a training event where sweets go down well...

Guisers are the original "trick or treaters" it is a tradition in Scotland to go to neighbours etc in costume and perform a song, tell a joke. do a dance etc and be rewarded with sweets. apple dooking etc. Folk who emigrated to the new world took the tradition with them :j
