Hi all, this is a thread to discuss the MSE blog:
Is it what you save, or what you spend that counts?
It’s been a busy week or two, but my wife and I sat down last night and acknowledged we’d made some great savings.
It started when one of our boys somehow damaged our reliable, but ancient, TV ....

In my family, we save more by shopping carefully than ever we do by saving carefully.
That said, it doesn't hurt to try improving savings returns but, these days, hunting around for that last extra tenth-of-a-percent seems hardly worth the effort.
If you shop carefully, there's more to save anyway.

Seems like the article is about spending and not spending, rather than actually saving (i.e. savings accounts or investments). Confusing title.0

Saving isn't always about savings accounts and investments; it's also about not paying more than you need to when you do spend and only spending on what you need rather than spending on what you don't need just because retailers try to convince you that you do need it.Seems like the article is about spending and not spending, rather than actually saving (i.e. savings accounts or investments). It is what you save on essential spends.
