report it to your credit card company and tell a white lie, call and ask for a statement of transactions. ten point out that the competition one was fraudulent. Fill out the foms and you will get your money back.
Sorry but this is really not good advice.
If you tell a Credit Card company that a transaction that you have consented to is fraudulent when it is not, then YOU become the party who is behaving fraudulently.
However, if the vendor has promised a return of the deposit if you do not proceed with the purchase which does not materialize then they are in the wrong and you can dispute the transaction as fraudulent. This is your right and there is no need for any "white lies".
Under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act the Card Company are jointly liable for the transaction and should refund you.
Remember watch those sharp-suited salesmen. Car Dealers, Estate Agents, Timeshare Sales, they are all the same breed and will say anything to get their commission. As long as you are pre-prepared you will be fine.0 -
I didn't need to read any further than:
' got a call from exposurephotographics yesterday saying I'd won a photoshoot.'
Contact them and thell them you wish to cancel under the terms of the DSR.
If they refuse, THEN take it up with your credit card company as the photo company is then committing an offence.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

Sorry, what's DSR? Distance sellling regulations and how does that work?
You have been sold a photoshoot over the phone.
You have 7 days to change your mind under the Distance Selling Regulations - phone them up and tell them you don't want to roceed and they will be obliged under the DSR to refund you.
If they don't refund, then you have recourse to reclaim the payment through your credit card company.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0
