Nightmare!!

We have just moved house and changed our internet and BB provider to Plusnet wi fi is working fine on both laptops, but my printer refuses ro connect wirelessly to the router which is making life very frustrating. My lap top will not connect to the printer anyway, I have tired several times to re-install the soft ware so I can upgrade the drivers, the computer keeps saying there are compatibilty problems, so I am having to use my husbands lap top to print.

The wi fi light does not come on and when you ask the printer to connect it won't The printer is an Epson SX430W.

I tired connecting my husbands lap top ueing the cable, absolutely nowt. Printer was working perfectly a few days ago.Grrrrrrrrrrr.....

A nightmare would be having the house burn down with all your possessions in it the day after you moved. A printer not working is a minor inconvenience.

You say you are using your husband's laptop to print, but you also say the printer doesn't connect wirelessly to the router, and that connection by cable doesn't work, so can you explain what is actually working that allows you to print at all?

Where to start with your laptop.
    0. Disconnect SX430W if connected by cable.
    1. remove any printers (Devices and Printers) which you don't use OR which are the SX430W.
    2. Reboot
    3. Install s/w matching your OS and "bits" (32 or 64) Just download the latest "Driver" package.
    e.g windows 7 64-bit http://esupport.epson-europe.com/ProductHome.aspx?lng=en-GB&data=0ccCGROWIYOwU002F8RMv3ObxSUMYHzOKYAsMysAGk4iWGMU003D&tc=6
    4. Install cable (USB) option and only connect the USB cable when requested.
  • My printer will not print anything, I get the print message click but nothing happens. Big problem, disc drive on husbands lap top does not work and it will not load on my computer I am running windows 8.1 I have had problems with the printer ever since I upgraded to 8.1. Message is that the computer is incompatible with the printer.

I have enough going on without the printer having a hissy, it was working fine just before we moved. I cannot get the printer to connect wirelessly so there fore the printer is useless.

I had to get wireless drivers and Lom100 driver from Toshiba website as this happened to me both with Win 8.1 and Linux Mint so could be a driver problem. Also make sure your printer and laptop have the same sharing network, like "Homegroup" or "Workgroup"

I had trouble with my printer connecting wirelessly when we changed the password of the router. So I did the advice already given, uninstall, reinstall with the USB cable and then enter the wifi details.

Also as suggested update drivers using the epson website if it doesn't automatically install.

It seems quite obvious that the drivers don't work under W8.1, so check the Epson site for an update.
Why does the lack of wireless printing render the printer 'useless'? Why can't you print to USB as a temporary fix (if you can print at all)?

I had this problem with 2 Epson printers on W7. Worked fine for a few weeks then just stopped working.

Uninstalled printer, rebooted, reinstalled with disc - still didn't work. Repeated but installed with drivers from Epson site - still didn't work. Exchanged it as faulty in Argos (I took out extra cover for a few quid) and same thing happened again a few weeks after working fine.

Gave up on wifi printer and now have a cable one which works fine.

Googled it at the time and quite a common fault.

Isn't it just that the wifi settings on the printer need updating for your new hub

  • My husbands lap top will not work either using the USB cable, I have spent ages trying to sort the thing out.

Can someone suggest a new printer that will work with Windows 8:1

I cannot load the printer disc and each time I try it says incompatable I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and but a new printer.
