iPhone Versus HiPhone.

An Apple iPhone costs £269.00 or £329.00 plus a £35.00 per month minimum contract with O2.

I can buy an unlocked Chinese-made HiPhone for around £100.00.

It looks similar to an Apple iPhone and appears to have most of the features.

Has any forum user knowledge of or experience with these clone 'phones?

dont bother, tacky feeling and not very intuative with the menu interface. Found it lacking in basic functions as in a bit fiddly texting and touch screen was a little hit and miss. Best thing i found is the speaker, it vibrates to the music and makes it sound very good. Kinda makes it louder without being tinny, was very strange. Expect other phone manufacturers to pinch that one lol. Can honestly say if id paid a hundred pounds for it i would have been very dissapointed. As it happens it was a friends who bought it in dubai and i had a play with it. Bottom line dont bother just by a windows mobile device instead of forking out for the hi phone.

    regards

Problem is I need an Apple Mac-compatible 'phone (Treo 600 getting long-in-the-tooth!) and I can't justify the overall cost of an iPhone, much as I'd love to!

The vast majority of phones sync with Macs (all recent Nokias do at least).

    I just bought the Hiphone I32 ( CECT 168+ ) from ebay for £119.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone other than as a basic touch screen phone. Whilst the touch screen does behave similarly to an iPhone, the tilt rotate and tilt jog to next song works, two finger to magnify image etc, it's interface is a bit clunky. The inbuilt camera is very poor and I've not been able to add any items to the calendar. It doesn't have java so you can't add any applications to it. No browser so you can't browse the web.

To be quite honest most of the offferings from the main phone vendors , Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, LG etc offer better features at this price and have better usability and other utilities.

As an objet d'art it's okay. I personally would only buy another if it was seriously cheap, say sub £60.

    Hey.

You can probably get a iPhone for £209 inc Quido without taking out a contract.

    Good Luck.
