nokia phone showing headset connected but it isn't...
I'm having a bit of a problem with my Nokia 6230, it's showing an icon as though a headset is connected, only problem is that nothing is actually attached to the phone. Whenever I make/recieve a call I can't hear anything unless I use the loudspeaker.
I've tried resetting the factory settings but it doesn't go away, anyone know how to get rid of it?

Had this on my n-gage a couple of times.
Try plugging in the headset and taking out again. Try a few times. Maybe also push gently to one side or the other before fully inserted.
If still no good, try inserting something in the headset socket and pushing gently to the side. Can't remember what I used once, probably a slightly sharpened matchstick or toothpick perhaps. Insert only about the length of headset jack at most.
My theory is somehow the contacts for the headset jack 'short' due to dirt or something, or maybe get slightly bent somehow or lose a bit of springiness.
Edit:
This advice may well not apply as I expect the connections on your phone are not like n-gage0 -
thanks for the suggestions. I tried it but it still comes up with that annoying sign.
I went to a few shops and a couple of them said it could be sorted out by flashing the phone. Another guy said it could be water damage.
Do you know how i'd go about flashing the phone as they wanted between £20-£40 to do it which is a bit pointless as the phone isn't even worth that much any more. Apparently, it takes them 2 hours to do but i'm sure they're exaggerating just a little0 -
Someone suggested sticking the headset in the phone for a couple of hours and seeing if it would make the icon go away. I left it in overnight and it seemed to go away for a bit but then came back, I did the same the next day and it seems to have gone now...how long for, time will only tell.
thanks for your help0 -
