If you've a lot of computer data to back up, an external hard drive's a must. Now you can get a Toshiba-branded 1TB, or 1000GB, drive for under £70.
£69.98 Toshiba 1TB external hard drive at ebuyer or amazon.
Will it work on my machine?
As long as you've USB, you should be able to plug it in and get going straight away. If you've a PC, it'll appear as another hard drive in your 'my computer' window, and if you've a mac it should appear on your desktop.
It's worth noting that 1000GB is a huge amount of storage, overkill for most people, and that it's always better to have two 500GB drives than one 1TB drive anyway, since as the old adage goes, you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket.
Nonetheless, if you can use the space, this is a great price. Thanks to Traveller1981 for posting this on another thread, this one's been started to give it a top post.

SATA or ATA? I only ask as I need a new internal drive and could potentially rip this one out and install it in my machine.0 -

Nevermind. Just took one of my externals apart. Its a SATA drive. I need an ATA drive.
How are they able to sell external drives cheaper than internals? Surely it costs more to produce an external (what with the shell and stuff).0 -
Maybe they stick less effective drives in externals as they feel people getting externals are less likely to be bothered by noise, and speed isn't an issue as I'm guessing the USB will be the limiting factor.0

www.scan.co.uk have a few good internal IDE/PATA drives still available.

I steered clear of the Iomega due to all the firmware problems the Seagate 1tb drives it uses have had. (The Inquirer)0
