MSE discount on brassica plants - get some christmas/spring greens!
Hi All,
I've been looking for some brassica plants as my sprout seeds didn't come to anything. I found an ebayer (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/FARMER-ARNOLDS-BARN) who'll do us a deal if we mention this forum (ie buy as a group with separate delivery).
They come in 20's and the list price is £2.39 plus £1.98 postage which is capped at £10 (although I think 100+ plants is a lot for one person!).
He's got cabbages, sprouting broccoli (early purple, late purple, white), sprouts, leeks, cauliflowers, kale etc. I've asked for a list of what he's got and I'll post it when I hear.
I haven't bought anything from them before their ebay rating is 99.9% positive and they get a recommendation here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=548314
I'll try to negotiate a discount, but I guess he'll need an idea of how much we're likely to buy collectively, so let me know if you're interested.
Thanks
Richard

thats brilliant! not that I need any more! I have used Arnolds farm about three or four times this year and they are great.
but as I said on the other thread
good points
Plant are a good size not cell grown, these are field grown.
the parcels are well packaged and posted out quickly.
I have had no signs of disease in the orders I have had.
they can survive in the packaging for a few days, if need be.
Only complaint I have is that they do not put a "live plants" sticker on, so the postman takes them back to the depot and I have to wait 48 hours. Despite this hickup with the postie, this the plants are fine.
hope this helps people make their minds up.The sign of a wasted life is a tidy house, Welcome to the chaos!0 -
I would be happy to be part of this, i only have a very small plot but really happy to fill it! I would love some brocolli / cauliflower/ cabbage, combination if someone else wants so of those? Don't know how this will work?Leopardlady

How it will work -
1) The easiest way is to order 20 of a type and get it delivered to you. We'll get a discount on the price if we mention MSE (not sure how much yet, but every little helps)
2) Try for a mixed choice of 20 plants, I know he auctions mixed groups of 20. Again delivered direct, again should be with discount.
3) Moneysavers/allotmenteers etc get together locally, order collectively, get delivered to one address and then split them up.
I'm in North Wales if anyone's interested in splitting!0 -
That sounds great.. but I'm doing pot growing.. or I could try to negotiate a spot with the bind weed and children.. lol
I'll have a gander though.. any saving is better than nothing... and I could donate unused plants to the school allotment!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Ta! It was the "buy as a group with seperate delivery" that had me stumped. I understand now0 -
I'd be in to this too.
Is there anybody in SGlasgow/Renfrewshire/NAyrshire who'd be interested in sharing as I don't have a lot of space in my garden.Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0
