Santander OTP: Note now case sensitive..maybe?.

As is often the case with call centres.
P.S. I don't doubt your original post. Clearly there are changes afoot.
Still Santander (used to?) sink to the bottom of the polls. And it's this kind of stuff that's the reason.
I'm not one of the latest bank knocker posters:
I use Santander extensively; I've loop holed them for years, broken their rules, 'robbed' them blind in their switch deal & they remain my hub account even after their rate drops and monthly charge introduction.
But their systems are so poor (ask Judith Chalmers); they could be so much better with a little more thought.
I've edited the OP to reflect my uncertainty in the case sensitivity veracity.0 -
still a good bolt hole for me. I have 2 x sole a/cs for years (but they tell me I "shouldn't have"). Main a/c used0

New system not so quick and the inability to access an existing payee when setting up a standing order is a retrograde step, especially with commencing payments to regular savers. I have never had a problem with OTP - they have always been upper case and numbers. The new requirement of entering your secure pin as well as the OTP is a necessary security feature.
If the rationale behind selecting a few (not all) characters from your security number to login is valid, then surely it would be the same rationale for a new payee?0 -
Yes, this bothered me yesterday when I was trying to set up a SO, without success. Two attempts to contact them by phone did not get through. I always put the capitals in when copying the OTP so that was not the issue.
On the new, primitive- looking SO set up form it said I would need a mobile ap to verify. I am OK with I putting the OTP from a text, but why do I need an ap? I never do banking on my mobile.0 -
What a daft idea. They should use only one case and avoid numbers and letters that may be confused so only letter I and not l or 1. OTP is already stronger than a 4 digit PIN and it comes on top of the initial log in passwords.0

And another backward step, on the new set up you cannot start or finish a SO on a non working day. I have just tried and wondered why it got rejected, for the next 4 months the 1st is not a working day, something they managed to fix in the old set up but have reverted back in the new.0

This happened to me and needed a phone call to ascertain the problem - not good with setting up standing orders to feed regular savers. Now I will have to consult a calendar to avoid the last payment being on a non working day. The old Santander system allowed you to choose number of payments - usually 11.0 -
I have just set up my new Halifax RS payments and set manual payments for 1st Dec, Jan, Feb & Mar - yes, non banking days - and set up a DD for April 1st to Nov 2nd. Had to do it all twice for my and MrsM's accounts. To make it worse our BOS MSs mature tomorrow and am going to have to do it all again.0

Or because you can't set it up for a non working day? ie 1st December?
So here is a way you can (or at least I can):
Don't click on your ac; instead use the 'go to' drop down to the right of your ac number;
Click set up a new payment/ set up a SO/ Regular payment between my account to another UK account..
..takes you to the old process - which lets you use the payees that are set up.. and allows start from 1st Dec and allows you set number of payments. :T0
