Single rate on an economy 7 meter
Options
I used to have economy 7 electric by a previous supplier. When I moved to Eon I was able to continue using the E7 meter, even though I switched to a single rate. I'm now coming up to the end of the fixed rate term and I'm looking around at competitors prices.
Is there a list anywhere of suppliers who are able to use an E7 meter for a single rate supply? In other words, will take the two readings and add them together, or even take the one total reading (which my meter also displays).
I can't seem to find out whether or not I'm going to have to get my meter changed to switch supplier. Most suppliers web sites don't seem to mention it, so I'll be forced to contact each one in turn in order to find out their policy on this.

I'm not aware of any list of such suppliers, so yes the best solution would be to decide which supplier you would ideally like to move to on a single rate tariff and see what they say.
Alternatively, of course, you are free to move to any supplier onto their E7 tariff, despite you currently being on a single rate tariff from Eon.
Or you could stay with Eon0 -
EDF will charge Standard rate by adding the Day/Night readings together and will actually change the meter for free, I'm sure they are not the only one - Do your tariff homework first and then ask the suppliers you fancy.
Tip
If you do fancy EDF, make your enquiry by the online chat service and print out or save the conversation, you then have a written log of what EDF agreed to do when you enquiredMy daughter had the same problem - EDF's chat line said they would totalise the meters and change the meter over time.
1st bill arrives and they have charged Day & Night rates, a short phone call referring to the copy of the chat log, resulted in a new bill issued and £25 recompense money0 -

That's right LesU. Our customers can have a single rate tariff even though they've a two rate Economy 7 meter. We just add the day and night usage together and charge at the one unit price. No need to change the meter.
Thought I ought to let you know, if you wanted us to change the meter, we're currently charging £64.76 for this work. Not sure what other suppliers do. As dogshome and footyguy say, best to use the comparison sites to see who you prefer and talk to them to see what their policy is.
Hope this helps LesU.

I switched to Avro Energy for a single rate tariff for a E7 meter in April and my first bill is due. The DD does start up front but if they do not give a good service there are no exit fees.0

It's a little different with Avro
Avro should come up on any comparison site when you check for E7 tariffs.
But their E7 tariff happens to use the same rate for both normal rate and low rate.
You'll be able to see where it stands with other E7 tariffs from other suppliers.0 -
I have just done a check on a switching site and a number of the smaller companies, people & places, isupply and octopus to name a few offer a single rate e7 tariff.0

They do not appear to be showing up on EHL0 -
Uswitch.
I think that I looked at the rates for my current supplier (Avro)and not the new chosen supplier apologies0 -
The CMA will be forcing all suppliers to offer the single rate tariffs to any multi rate meters. There is no current time scale though.0

I would ideally stay with Eon who have been extremely good at handling my account. Unfortunately, at the moment, their cheapest plan for me to switch to, after my fixed term finishes, is nearly £300 p.a. higher.
Avro are interesting having one rate for all.
How you look up on a switching site for single rate E7 metered I'm not sure. Most can only search for E7 or single rate tariffs.
If the companies just want a single number I can provide that, as the meter displays Low,High and Combined figures. I have a feeling that the meter is registered as E7 and can't be used in a dual role by some companies.0
