Direct Debits from Santander chequing account
I switched an account to Santander, deposited the £1500 as required and the switch was completed yesterday. Today I switched in two direct debits but am wondering if the incentive offer only applies if the two direct debits were already active in the account that was switched in?
When I checked the Santander site, I found the requirement ambiguous. Anyone know for sure?

I don't know for sure, but the terms read to me that your account is assessed for its eligibility for the bribe at 60 days after the switch, and that this is the point at which you need to have 2 active DD's set up.

Within 60 days of you submitting your initial switch request, you’ll need to:- complete the full switch, which includes closure of your external account- pay at least £1,500 into your Santander account, through 1 or more payments- have at least 2 active Household Direct Debits in place on your Santander account. These Direct Debits must be active atthe point we assess your eligibility. This doesn’t include any Direct Debits set up to fund a savings account you have withSantander, cahoot or Cater Allen.Continue to hold your Santander account, including 2 active Household Direct Debits, on the date we make the switcheroffer payment.

Those Household Direct Debits that are required for the bonus are quite specific, make sure you check the list, link in previous post.

No.
Your 2 direct debits can be set up on the new Santander account and must be 2 household direct debits from this list.

Past incentives have allowed you to set them up after the switch and this offer is no different. But you do need to take notice of the list of allowed household DDs as they are very strict about this.

Do the direct debits qualify for cash back?

If it's an 'Edge' current account then yes.
