Paris for Valentines

Hi all :santa2:

Me and my partner are going to Paris for valentines, as a valentines/birthday present, Something I have always wanted to do!
We have already booked the best value hotel we could find for between the 12th-15th Feb 2015. So.... 2 questions;

Firstly, the cheapest flights I can find are £74 each from London. These are ok but we will also have to add on the cost and time of travelling to and from Cornwall. Is it best to book these NOW or might they become a little cheaper? Or does anyone know a good site?

Secondly, we want to do as much as possible and as cheap as possible. Anyone know any sites to get deals on? Best places to go that are good value etc? We would also like to go to the Catacombs, Eiffel Tower, Laperouse and Crazy Horse. If you know of cheaper ways to do these or cheaper alternatives please let me know!

Thank you in advance! :beer:

    FlyBe fly from Exeter and Bristol, for those dates you are looking at about £150 each return. More money but saves quite a bit of travelling time. The exeter flights are actually pretty good times too as you can be in Paris for mid afternoon on Thurs and not leave until Sunday early evening.

    You'll probably find that the flights increase in price for the London flights quite rapidly between now and when you plan to go. Paris is one of the most popular options for Valentines day and that;s a great price.

    If you're going to have to come up to London to catch a flight, get the Eurostar instead. It's a far more enjoyable and comfortable experience - and it drops you right in central Paris for a much nicer start to your break.

    Make sure you take plenty of warm clothes, it was -8c with ice floes in the Seine last February :D

    Book your travel as soon as possible, Valentines is one of the busiest weekends of the year. Agree about the weather, 16 years ago when I was young and foolish I took an ex to Paris that weekend and it rained the whole time and was freezing, perhaps that explains why aren't together anymore?

    The nightclubs are very expensive, Crazy Horse will cost you a lot and if you want a romantic weekend I am not sure I would take her there, you may enjoy it, she may not! However if you are young and foolish, in fact 18 to 26 they do offer a space at the bar, no seating at all for 40 or 50 Euros but I would not expect the discounts to be on offer on a busy weekend and the full price for a meal and show for the two of you will cost 300 Euros plus!

    As an alternative take a night boat down the Seine, not the dinner service which is overpriced by the ordinary Bateaux Mouche or better still the Bateaux Parisiens or Bateaux de Pont Neuf.

    Have dinner on the Left bank around the Latin Quarter or Saint Germain, book the Eiffel Tower in advance otherwise you will queuing for hours. When you arrive in Paris buy a 'carnet' of 10 metro tickets, you can split them apart and both use them to get around on the metro or bus

    Thank you! Yes I had seen those flights still trying to weigh up whether the £154+£54 for both of us to catch the bus up (and transfer from coach station to airport both ways) So a saving of £92 ... Before adding petrol and parking costs to the £300 that it would cost to fly from Bristol is worth the hassle of travelling all the way up! At the moment the saving looks better!

    Thank you johnmcga but we are going by bus and leaving the car at home! Can you get on the euro star as a foot passenger? The last stop on the bus is Victoria coach station so we would have to add travel costs from there to the euro star too. I'll have a look at it though and see if I can find any deals!

    :o Hopefully we will not suffer the same fate!! Thank you for the tip on the weather though! Helps with what to pack in my small hand luggage.

    We are 27 and 28 I'm still counting us in the young and foolish bracket! :p ....and it is my suggestion not his! I've always fancied it. Anyway the first price I found was indeed 300 euros for both of us with wine and a picture...However after digging around I have found it cheaper to book direct and on a different day to valentines getting it for 200 euros without the picture. Although we have not actually booked this yet, I'm still searching!

    Great advice we were considering a meal down the Seine, good to know its not worth it! We will definitely check the other options out.
