passport record

Is this a record?
I renewed my passport online and then sent the form and the photographs last week on the 3rd September.
Today, 10th September, I received my new passport. I thought it was my old passport being returned, but it was my new one.
Very good service.

  • I assume you are excluding those who pay for the same day service ;)

I think the record was set back in 1984... I needed to renew my passport, and since I had no travel plans used the cheapest and most basic service option available. My new passport arrived by return of post!
  • I sent my renewal off on 28th August and my online status has changed to 'dispatched' so I'm hoping to get it back tomorrow.

Question for the OP, did you get your old passport back too? as i'd quite like to have mine back for sentimental reasons

spud_work, I haven't got my old one back yet, though you are supposed to, so may be it is on it's way.

don't they still have to pass it to the man or woman who cuts the corner off before sending it back? :rotfl:

  • Renewed passport arrived this afternoon, just under 2 weeks since it was sent. It wasn't delivered by Royal Mail, but a private company. I spoke to the Royal Mail postie this morning and he told me that they deliver your old passport back to you but another company has the contract for delivering new passports.
  • Old passport was delivered back to me this morning by Royal Mail :)
