JSA and self employment

How would it work if I attempted to start being self employed, ie. may take a month or so to get any clients and actually get paid so no income but, at the same time, I wouldn't be searching for paid employment. I assume that I wouldn't be able to claim JSA (clue is obviously in the name!)? Is there an equivalent benefit for self employed folk until they start earning?

Come join us on the other topic in this forum its called New Enterprise Allowance scheme. Basically its people on JSA who are going self employed, you can get lots of advice on starting up your business and benefits available.0 -

Do you mean that your NEA payments have come to an end..or that the DWP have decided that your business is not viable and therefore have stopped paying NEA?0 -
