Considering going to Jersey at the end of this month would I need a passport and insurance to do this,Thanks in anticipation.

Travel insurance is always advisable but you won't need a passport for Jersey unless you are travelling by air , I think most airlines require a passport for ID purposes in todays climate..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Technically you are leaving the UK (and the EU) when you fly to the Channel Islands but there are no immigration controls so no passport is required.

Most airlines accept a photo driving licence as a valid ID for flights within the British Isles (though Ryanair are a notable exception)0 -
Insurance most definately as the reciprocal arrangement finished a few years ago and the EHIC doesn't apply.0

"Although the new RHA covers treatment, it will not cover the costs associated with repatriation in the event that a UK resident taken ill in Jersey is unable to return to the UK on a conventional flight. Therefore it is advisable that wherever possible, travel insurance is still purchased to cover this eventuality.

I went to Jersey in June with the OH to see his sister's family and we used passports (which were asked for several times in the airport) but had no separate insurance.0

We went to Jersey by ferry, took our passports but they were never checked. Personally I always take a passport if I am in doubt - better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it IYSWIM!!
As for insurance, definitely a necessity. Not just medical treatment, but what if you were seriously injured and needed to be repatriated?What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
