Cheque Guarantee Card Question

Hi,

Not sure if this is in the write area, feel free to move it if not.

Today I paid for some school photos with a cheque, the company required a cheque guarantee card.

I have two debit cards that look very similar but one is for a savings account. I get the feeling I have wrote the wrong card number on the back of the cheque.

What will happen to it? I have enough funds in the bank anyway, so will the cheque just be cashed fine or will it be declined if the number on the back is incorrect?

Thanks,
Neato

If there are sufficient funds available, the cheque will just get paid.

Ahh brilliant. That's fine then. I was hoping that would happen.

The company will need to change the way they do business - cheque guarantee cards will be phased out by next year.

It is them not you who should be writing the number on the back of the cheque. Otherwise the rules of the scheme are not being complied with.

You are right of course, but as long as there is enough dosh in the account, the Cheque Guaranty Card is totally irrelevant.

I imagine they'll probably just stop taking cheques tbh, but I don't really mind as long as I am not walking away with these photos having not paid properly.

Oh, well then I guess it would be their mistake. The guy was pretty harassed. As long as they get the money I don't mind.
