If you cant beg or borrow a tent & camping equipment from mates, to be honest I wouldnt bother .OUr summer holiday is staying in a beach hut this has been donated by family, its thier hut. We have some money from our lodger thats being put away for our wontrer holiday, altohugh talking about it more, we might not bother and use the money to pay off debt. To be honest it will make us happier :)

Use the holidays board if you are certain you want to do it. they are a hotbed of info on cheap campsites etc?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Believe it or not, we have managed some quite cheap holidays at Haven parks. I've managed to book a four star caravan in July next year for £250 for the week for four of us, which compared to some of their prices is cheap. They have on site swimming pool, adventure playground, and evening kiddie entertainment, so always something for the young'uns to do, and we spend our time doing cheap day trips to the local area so the kids can learn about other parts of the country. Self catering too, so no need to spend money out on eating out all the time (although our holiday treat is always a Pizza Hut on the last night). Give them a ring, they have always given us cheaper quotes over the phone than compared to the website.
My sig's too large, apparently - so apologies to whoever's space I was taking up.:lipsrseal

How about doing a house swap? There are sites for house swapping on the net.

A relative with a caravan or chalet which they will let you stay in for cheap or free.

Have a look on ebay, there are some cheap caravan holidays up for grabs on there.

Wait until the Sun newspaper are doing their holidays and you will be able to collect tokens and then go for £9.50 each for a 4 night break.

it depends what type of holiday you like (beach/city break??) and if you have kids to entertain...me & OH tend to get cheap flights with Easyjet or other no frills sales (sign up for email alerts), and usually spend between £60 - £90 for two return flights. Use sites like laterooms.com, hotelpronto.com, etc to research your hotel, and cross ref with an independent travel site such as tripadvisor to check if it's OK, usually only spend about £20 -25 a night for B&B (for 2 adults sharing). If you see a hotel you like the look of, Google it to see which site offers the best deal! We only use public transport, or walk everywhere when we go away (good exercise & you see more!), again try checking local expert sites which will tell you the best deals on travel, and can help with cafe & shop recommendations. Loads of galleries, museums, parks etc are all free, and the parks can be good for lazy picnics at lunchtime!:D

we have been down to Devon, up to Kirkcudbright, up to Bamburgh, over to Scarbrough and the Lakes. I use a website called https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk as they seem to have most camp sites on there and they have reviews too. I have also seem people asking for camping equipment on Freecycle so that way you would get the stuff free. There are a few threads on here under OS about camping too and I havent looked but I am sure there will also be info on the holiday threads too.
