Parking against flow Insurance claim

Hi,
I parked up outside my house (30mph road) very early one morning only for about 15 minutes.
When I came out from my house I passenger door had been hit (looks like by a lorry) badly dented and the wing mirror broke. (the vehicle had not stopped)
The repair company say it would be a new door job costing about £1000.
My concern is that I was parked against the traffic flow, what will my insurance company say about this.
any help would be appreciated. as the car was only £2000 and I just dont know what to do.

are you fully comp? your insurers will probably write the car off if so, and you'll lose your excess and NCB.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

i was always under the impression that insurance is reluctant to pay out when cars arent parked properly. a relative had the same problem years ago and the ins refused to pay out , this was 30+ yrs ago so things may have changed. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. This is a common myth, the Insurance will pay out if you park incorrectly or even illegally eg on double yellow lines. The only time they MIGHT not pay out is if you are deemed to be grossly reckless, this would be something along the lines of not being able to find a car parking space so you decide to park in the middle of a level crossing and go and do your shopping.0
