£27 or less (with 10% discount) using the same oil at National for an oil an filter change, a very good price and not that much dearer after you have spent £5 on a filter :D

Thanks so much Thunderbird. I was just about to go off to Halfords to buy some of this oil when I saw your post. It saved me £12.50! I was gonna buy two lots but they only had 3 bottles on the shelf!:D:T

Hi, this is what it says on the can. Check your user manual of your car to see if it is the one for your car though

"Castrol Magnatec combines Intelligent Molecules with fully synthetic technolog for a stronger layer of protection"

    SAE 5W-30; API SL; ISLAC GF-3; ACEA A1/B1; Ford WSS-M2C913-A, Ford WSS-M2C913-B

    Good luck

EDIT: Sorry, it is semi-synthetic oil, I have just seen planemad's post below and realised I didn't answer your question clearly.

I must agree this is a good deal if you don't want to replace your engine oil yourself. Otherwise, TESCO's deal is great for those who like to do an extra 1 or two oil change to the annual one.

National is ideal for a quick fix, and a good price with the filter. However afaik they syphon the oil out and do not remove the sump plug. So some impurities remain on the bottom of the sump and the metal picked up on magnetic sump plugs stays put.

It's apparently common practice at such places, although it's not quite correct to say that it's syphoned out, it's extracted via the dipstick tube using a pump.
The reason is that it's much quicker, therefore a faster turnover of business.
