Question regarding credit cards for online purchases

in Credit cards
I have read somewhere (can't remember where, did i imagine it?) that it is best to use a credit card instead of a debit card for online purchases. Is this true and what is the reason behind it?

    I would imagine that its because credit card insures your purchases, so in the event of a problem, you'd be covered.

    I think you need to be more clear what you mean by "insures". It's not as thorough as, say, home and contents insurance. I think it only covers you if you don't receive the item or it is found to be faulty.

    Plus, it only applies to goods purchased between the values of £100-£30,000.
    You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

    The best website I can find is:

    It's called "Section 75 of the CCA". There are a lot of posts on these boards, try doing a search for "Section 75" or insurance within the Credit Card forum and see what you get.

    I would check with your credit card company to get it absolutely specific.

    I must admit it is one of those things I am vaguely aware of, but have never had to claim from.
