OK.... I have the full Nero package, and want to know if it is a simple process to convert VHS from a video recorder to DVD using Nero on my PC?
Can I do it, and if so, what do I need cables wise etc?

look for a thing called expert dvd maker usb....should be around 30 quid tops including free software.
DONT use the own software other than the drivers and use the power producer software included with it instead to capture the video.
Set it to svcd from a vhs input , the quality isnt dvd as some think and dvd players can play back svcd , vhs is about vcd so svcd would be fine....a svcd encode on a dvd will be suffice and no need to change the cd.0 -
Do you have a capture card?
Run Nero vision express & select make video dvd, then capture video, set video device proerties record from you capture card (select name of card), set audio device proerties to record audio from usually line input). You only have to do this once for all future recordings.
connect normal coaxial cable (aerial lead) from video to pc and press record & play video.0 -
Thanks for the Xpert USB suggestion..... I'll investigate.

The capture card sounds good (and cheaper) but I doubt my PB E6100 has one.

An external vhs to mpg converter will place less load on your PC and be quicker. Ensure you have a good pc with plenty of ram (more than 1gb).0 -
Your PB E6100 is of course a laptop , and like most laptops , don't come with a included capture card
a PCmcia version or more likely a usb version of a capture card ( poss some TV card/ unit)
