Microsoft Office 2007 - Real Deal?

I was looking to update my MS Office, and had seen the academic versions on Ebay at around £60 but a link on Ebay showed the company below as having it available at $45 (around £25) and wondered if it was legit.

I'm very wary about offers that seem to good to be true as they usually are.

Anyone had any dealings with this company.

I was wondering if it was worth a punt?

I know about Open Office so no need for people to tell me about this free option. I prefer MS Office and ideally want Outlook 2007

Cheers

  • It says 'No Shipping Cost'

I doubt that as they must be in the States if they are selling in Dollars.

Your shipping costs would probably add considerably. I would think it may be better to go with with the UK supplier. Slightly more expensive but maybe safer in the long run.
  • Oh right! It is a Download site. Doh!

If you are a student or have kids at school and they are doing ICT, then I can recommend Software4Students

You physically get the discs ( i.e. no download ), a product licence and it's an approved Microsoft supplier ( hence totally legit )

I would say that this site is a sort of download site that you could get the same thing from a torrent. e.g. Just an illegal download. The fact you download it - and they have a text with the code in it will prolly mean you all get the same code.

Also they say they will send you a BURNED CD at no extra cost if you want.

    This gets more dodgy.

If you want an illegal version - get it free somewhere else.

If you want the proper version - pay the proper price.

If it looks too good to be true....etc,etc

The Microsoft Home Use Program offer discounted Office Products.

It is available to pretty much all large organisations (Civil Servants, NHS etc)

Everyone must know someone who qualifies.

If you are tempted to get one of these download link versions for £20, you may as well get it for nothing. It doesn't take much effort to get what you want if your morals are low enough.

Not the real deal. In their FAQ: -

4). Can I register or download update from the manufacturer?
No. However we will provide you the update patch if we have it. Please make you understand this before you buy.

Thanks for that - that was the site I had come across in the Ebay links previously, and the site I was trying to find.

Cheers to everyone for their thoughts - I had looked through the faqs etc and seen the points about upgrades etc, but wondered how they can advertise via Ebay etc if something is not legit - you would have thought that Microsoft would look closely at Ebay and such links for dodgy dealing.

    Cheers again

You could report it to ebay if you wanted to - then it would be in their hands whether to deal with it or not.
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right

Unfortunately the licence only allows them (& household) to use it, they can't pass it on
