A&L Premier Plus or Premier Direct

Options
I had my application accepted for a premier plus account and paperwork states that I need to deposit £1000 a month and I have received the travel insurance document, but on internet banking, it states Premier Direct account.

That's very strange. Even though my Premier account was upgraded to Premier Plus ages ago, it has always (and still does) said Premier on Internet Banking. I thought that they were all just shown as Premier there.

In any case, Premier Plus accounts are automatically becoming Premier Direct, so I don't think that the name on Internet Banking determines anything. As long as you have the travel insurance document, you must have been accepted under Premier Plus and then migrated to Premier Direct.

My Premier Plus is now shown online as Premier Direct too.
BTW minimum monthly funding requiremen for Premier Direct is only £500 (the same as for Premium!). Don't know whether this change affects accounts opened before ...

Just got an email from A+L stating:

"In addition the name of your Premier Plus Current Account will change to Premier
Direct Current Account and all future correspondence will reflect this new name.

The amount you are required to pay into your account will reduce from £1,000 to
    £500 per month"

Hope this helps - it's the same account

Strangely enough, I have upgraded from Premier to Premier Direct and it still shows just Premier. I contacted A+L, who stated that it would not change, although I could (and have) changed the nickname, to Premier Direct Curr. Acc.

My Premier Plus account has just appeared online as a "Premier Direct Current Account". When I looked at theie homepage I saw that the account which comes with the free travel insurance is now called "Premier Current Account". I have emailed asking them to clarify that I still have the travel insurance.

  • Two things which changed when I upgraded from Premier to Premier Direct were, the travel insurance was cancelled, and the plus-saver int. rate dropped from 4.5% to 4.05%.

But of course, the reason I changed was to get the enhanced int. rate on the current account, and I was made aware of all the changes when I phoned thru to upgrade.

I've never used the plus saver account, I use the online saver account cos the interest rate is higher.

The only reason I have Plus-Saver is because I had to when originally signing up to the Premier account, and just credit the min amount of £10/month (before with-drawing it shortly after).

Mind you, the Premier Direct current account int rate is now higher than the Online Saver! Although I've applied for their Direct ISA-issue 2 with 4.5% tax free. :j

Yes but you can only have £2500 in the Premier Direct/Pemier Plus otherwise the rate drops down to 0.10%. I did not have to pay anything into the plus saver account, when I opened the account. You have to keep the account open as it is linked to the Premier account.

    Diesel

There is no minimum funding amount for PlusSaver. Where do you get that idea from? I've never, ever, paid any money into our (joint) PlusSaver because, as reported earlier, the interest rate on (my wife's tax free) Online Saver is better.
